Abstract:  
I will be introduce a new flourishing field in astrophysics called asteroseismology.  It uses the sound waves inside stars to infer their physical properties. I will demonstrate how this beautiful physics experiment is related to every day life experiences and how asteroseismology can help characterise planets around distant stars.
Biography:
Dr Dennis Stello is an ARC postdoctoral fellow at the University of Sydney School of Physics.  He gained his bachelor's degree in Mathamatics and Physics and his Master's degree at the University of Aarhus in Denmark.  He gained his PhD at the University of Sydney and has held positions of research astronomer at the University of Aarhus and research fellow and ARC postdoctoral fellow at the University of Sydney.
