Abstract: One of the best things about telescopic astronomical observation is the large diversity of deep-sky objects that are available for amateurs to view. Most of these wonders are hidden within the southern Milky Way - the popular destination during the winter months. More often than not we tend to flock to the best of the best and rarely do we seek out the more difficult or challenging ones to see. Our general guidance tend to gravitate to those recommended objects that appear in popular books like Hartung or Burnham's or even through word-of-mouth between our fellow compatriots. In my various writings of the far southern deep-sky over the years, I have been almost dumbfounded by the sheer number of wonderful vitas that I have never heard about or that have such scant information that they remain often totally unknown as mere obtuse catalogue numbers. I too have clung to the old paradigm that the southern skies are mostly barren of unusual delights. My aim in this talk will highlight some of these deep-sky objects, either as challenging visual or imaging targets. Examples include several RCW nebulae in Circinus, some unusual galaxies in Triangulum Australe, Pavo and Tucana, or the grand nebulae complexes existing throughout Chameleon and Octans. Some others are faint open clusters or associations, or even the plethora of planetary nebula mimics. Although some of these objects may be beyond the amateur's grasp, nonetheless, they are fascinating to know about. No doubt, these should become prominent in the years to come. Time permitting, an open discussion on telescopic observation techniques will end the night, and plenty of time will remain for attending observers or imagers to relate their experiences that they may wish to share. Look forward to see you at this meeting.
