Astronomical Imaging from the Ice Age

Keynote Presentation at the 25th Annual South Pacific Star Party by David Malin

Saturday 27th May 2017 (most likely at 2.15pm)

Title: Astronomical Imaging from the Ice Age

Abstract: The talk will briefly cover the broad record of astronomical imaging and imaginings from the earliest times, and emphasise that we still cannot see most of what we image. As a result, some of what we present as records of the sky may not represent physical reality, rather interpretations of what's there. Astroimagers and photographers are entirely free to interpret their data as they wish, but I would like to offer some guidelines for consideration.
