We have pleasure in inviting you to attend the 17th South Pacific Star Party (SPSP 17) to be held Friday 22 – Sunday 24 May in this 2009 International Year of Astronomy.

* REGISTRATONS HAVE NOW CLOSED *

The South Pacific Star Party is the highlight event of the Astronomical Society of NSW and a great opportunity to relax in the company of other amateurs from around Australia and overseas and observe the multitude of great objects the winter night sky has to offer.

If you haven't been to a Star Party before, why not come along and find out what you have been missing?

This year we have two renowned guest speakers:
Friday Saturday
Prof. Fred Watson
Astronomer In Charge (AAO)
Dr. Charles H. Lineweaver
Australian National University

Other events include the annual Telescope Makers Competition and the Astrophotography Competition. Astronomy Workshops for "Juniors" (Scale Model of the Solar System) and for "Seniors" (Stellar EVolution) will also be held over the weekend as will the hugely popular nightly sky tours.

The hugely popular Saturday Night Roast Dinner will be on again, but available only to the first 270 people who book for it. Don’t miss out! Hot food will be available for purchase on site each day.

Great door prizes will be drawn following the Saturday keynote talk. Please note that door prizes will only be available to those who register for the star party and are present at the draw.
