Chat Group Instructions
All members can now create and participate in ASNSW Chat Groups on your phone or on your computer. The information below is to help you work it all out if you are new to this sort of thing and you want to use it.
- To SEE the Chat Room on your phone:
- First, you need to download the Member Jungle Mobile APP to your phone, if you haven't already done so. There are instructions on the website if you scroll to the bottom of the home page and take the "FIND OUT MORE" link.
- Once you have the APP on your phone, you need to log in on your phone. Use the same Username and password that you use for the website. Your Username in most cases is your first initial and surname, all one word, all lower case.
- When you open the APP, you will see your "Dashboard", with selected links to features, your Membership Card, and recent news. To find the Chat Room, you need to tap on the triple-bar menu at top right. This will open the "Chat Room" and you will see any Chat Groups that you have access to.
- To SEE the Chat Room on your computer:
- Log in to the website.
- Go to Member Zone > Member Chatrooms (from the Main Menu).
- To START a new Chat Group:
- Tap on the + symbol in the blue circle at lower right on your phone; or
- Click on the speech bubble in the blue circle at lower left on your computer.
- Next, search for the first person you want to chat with.
- Then, check the Options (three-dot menu at top right on the phone, or cog-wheel at top right on the computer).
- You can add more members to your Chat Group, name your Chat Group, or leave the Chat Group at any time.
- To LEAVE a Chat Group using your phone:
- Go into the Chat Group by tapping on the name of the Chat Group.
- Click on the triple-dot menu at top right of the display.
- Click on "Leave Chat". It will ask you to confirm, as you cannot undo this action.
- To LEAVE a Chat Group on your computer:
- Go into the Chat Group by clicking on the name of the Chat Group.
- Click on the cog wheel at top right of the display.
- Click on "Leave Chat". It will ask you to confirm, as you cannot undo this action.
- To MUTE NOTIFICATIONS on your phone:
- Go into the Chat Group by tapping on the name of the Chat Group.
- Click on the triple-dot menu at top right of the display.
- Click on "Mute Notifications". It confirms with a little message and tick next to "Mute Notifications". You can toggle between muted and unmuted just by tapping on "Mute Notifications".
- To VIEW A LIST OF MEMBERS in the Chat Group:
- Go into the Chat Group by clicking or tapping on the name of the Chat Group.
- Tap on the triple-dot menu at top right of the display on your phone or click on the cog-wheel at top right on your computer.
- You will see the Chat Group Members listed below the Options described above.
- To CLEAR the Notifications indicator on your phone:
- Notifications appear on your phone when someone sends a message in the Chat Group, or when admins have sent a notification for some other reason (e.g., UNIVERSE is published to the website, or there is a time-sensitive "News" announcement). If you just go straight to the Chat Group, the Notifications indicator will still show a symbol or red circle with the number of notifications in it.
- To clear the indicators, tap on the triple-bar menu to the left of your name.
- Tap on "Notifications" where you will also see a number in the red circle indicating the number of unread notifications.
- Tap on each unread Notification to open it.
- When you go back to your home screen of your phone, the Notification symbol should now have disappeared.
