a) Maintaining the Tea & Coffee Station in the Bush Kitchen

  1. Check frequently and especially first thing in the morning, before retiring at night and before and after the talks on Friday and Saturday.
  2. Top up cups, tea, coffee, stirrers and sugar from the Store Room as needed. Before the Scouts arrive, Longlife milk may be available in the Store Room.
  3. Ask the Scouts for more milk and ice as needed from Friday lunchtime.
  4. Ensure the gas is still burning. If the tap is on but there is no heat or flame and no gas smell, the cylinder is empty and needs to be replaced. Joe, Trevor Oates, Peter Moore or Greg Priestley can help.
  5. Use the white plastic strip (it's a piece of white conduit cover) to check the water level and top up as needed using the yellow bucket at the sink. Take care to only bring the plastic strip into contact with the bottom of the urn momentarily, as it will melt and its shape will distort with excessive heat.

b) Setting up the Kids’ Workshop in the Pavilion

  1. Supplies are on site in a box in the Store Room or in one of the unlocked cupboards in the Meeting Hall.
  2. Try to be set up in time for a 10am start on Friday and Saturday.
  3. Check for drips from the Pavilion roof interior. Choose tables that are not under drips.
  4. Push two tables together for the cutting, gluing and colouring activities.
  5. Claim a single table for the painting area.
  6. Cover the tables with drop sheets.
  7. Tear out pages from the large books of cartridge paper - start with one for each child.
There are also some colouring-in print-outs.
  8. Arrange the craft and colouring supplies (scissors, coloured paper, small trinkets, glue sticks, textas,
coloured pencils, etc.) on the double table.
  9. Fill three plastic jars with clean water for the painting table and set out the paints and brushes.
The hexagonal paint sets can be separated into individual colours.
  10. Kids may take their finished work straight away.
  11. Optional:
    1. Run orange bunting (kept in a large black plastic bag under the bunk bed in the first or second
bunk room) between posts in the Pavilion (if not already installed).
    2.  Use pegs to hang up completed art works.
    3. Kids to come back and collect it on Sunday morning.
  12. Kids can do multiple works as time permits.
  13. Clear away the materials and drop sheets from 11.30am in time for the lunch-time crowd to have use
    of the tables and chairs.
