Back to volunteering index Book 1

This item forms part of Book 1: FACILITIES

Collect a quantity of red key-chain lights and chenille sticks from the Check-In Desk when you arrive, or on Thursday afternoon at the latest.

Install lights, using the chenille stick to attach somewhere convenient in the following areas early on Thursday evening.

Turn the lights on each evening (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) before it gets too dark.

  • On gangways
  • On guy ropes
  • On posts, signs and other obstructions that will be hard to see in the dark
  • Around the septic area
  • Along Bon Glen Way, but ONLY on the LEFT-HAND SIDE as you head into the glen (it only causes confusion if they are on both sides of the track)
  • In the vicinity of the pit toilets, especially where Observatory Road is rocky and uneven
  • Around the passageway through the hedge between the Main Camping Area and the Main Observing Field
  • Along the path from the septic area to the Main Observing Field

On Friday and Saturday mornings, turn off all the lights to preserve the batteries for the whole weekend.

On Sunday morning, collect all the lights and chenille sticks and turn the lights off.

Return all equipment to the Check-In Desk or office storage area, assuming the kids haven't souvenired them.
