Work begins

It has finally started. The preparations for the new 22" scope are under way. The first item on the agenda was to dismantle to old telescope for removal.

One last look before we start the disassembly.

It didn't quite make it to its 26th Birthday, but has served us so well over the years. I used to go up to Crago with my 8" Dob and later my 10" SCT. I was always amazed at the views you could get through the Club 16" in comparison.

Of course these days a 16" Dob is nothing out of the ordinary, but the new 22" should be a very worthy successor.

Next Month we plan to extract the telescope through the dome-slit, along with the ladder and other furniture. Then we can begin work on repairing the dome and installing the new solar panels.
