Back to volunteering index Book 1
This item forms part of Book 1: FACILITIES
When to Mark Up: At the Working Bee in April.
Equipment: Numbered signs, 4 spray cans of marking paint, line marker device, red plastic cones, heavy peg, mallet.
When to install the numbered signs: Wednesday of the SPSP or earlier. Signs are kept in a labelled Cutting Board cupboard in the Main Shed.
When to collect the numbered signs: Sunday. Return signs to the labelled Cutting Board cupboard in the Main Shed.
Procedure: Sites are allocated after registration. There are 24 numbered sites that are approximately 6m x 7m each.
- Follow the plan below (Figure 1, or as supplied by the Treasurer) indicating the positions and footprints of each site.
- Rough out the pattern with red discs to indicate the front corners of each site.
- Use the line marker (borrowed from Marine Rescue c/- Peter Moore) and line-marking paint to mark out the front corners of all sites (Figure 2), and any other line markings as necessary to be able to distinguish each site.
- Use a heavy peg and mallet to make a hole at the front corner of each site.
- Insert the numbered flag (stored in the labelled Cutting Board cupboard in the Main Shed) for each site in the hole, pushing in as far as possible and turning so that the number will be visible for traffic approaching on the one-way circuit (Figure 3).
- Photos below show the layout, how only the corners of the sites need to be marked, and final appearance with numbers displayed.
